Belted Kingfisher Reproduction
"I am enough."
 
This black and white portrait of a belted kingfisher was formed on a geometric foundation of vesica pisces using techniques like stippling, hatching, and detailed linework. Putting a twist on how they’re normally seen (from the side), belted kingfishers have a top-heavy physique, with a powerful straight bill. They dine almost entirely on aquatic species and seem to fly with an air of self-importance as they patrol rivers and shorelines. As a symbol, the kingfisher represents patience, agility, and calm. 
 
The original drawing is acid-free, archival ink on 100 lb bristol paper (12" x 9" | 30 cm x 23 cm). Hand drawn in 2023 by Sarah Skiold-Hanlin.
